The Project

Cafe Palmier was built using passive house principles. The design was created to meet the needs of the new business owners' plan to open up a Café in Chelsea, QC. The exposed cross-laminated timber (CLT) walls that make up the building’s structure and interior finish create a relaxing environment where customers can sit and enjoy the exposed wood and southern light that floods in through the triple pane South facing windows.

Building Components

Foundation: Reduced carbon footprint slab on grade with 3 concrete foundation walls for walkout 1st level

Wall Structure: 120mm CLT panels with 6” of insulation

Windows: Passive certified triple pane windows

Roof System: Truss system with cellulose insulation
